Product Information
Suggested Specification ZA181 – Runway Centre Line L-850A
The high intensity inset light, shall comply with the requirements of FAA L-850A, specification AC 150/5345-46C. It will also comply with ICAO Annex 14, volume 1, para 5.3.13 for use as a runway centreline light in category I, II and III all weather operation airfield lighting systems. To achieve the above compliance’s, two lamps rated at 49W maximum shall be used with an expected lamp life of nominally 1500 hours at full brilliancy.
The optical system shall be pre-focused to simplify maintenance procedures and consist of a glass prism and a 6.6A cold reflector lamp. Prisms shall be accurately positioned and located within the body casting without the need for sealing compounds. Coloured beams shall be achieved by dichroic coating the prisms.
The light shall be manufactured predominantly from aluminum alloy material and shall be able to withstand all stresses imposed by impact, rollover and static loads of modern-day aircraft without causing damage to the light or to aircraft and vehicle tyres. The light shall not protrude above the surface of the pavement more than 12mm.
The light shall be capable of being stripped down to its component parts by means of a 5mm A/F Allen key only.
The light shall be suitable for an 8″ mounting but, by means of adaptors, may also be mounted into larger 12″ and 15.5″ seating rings. The light cartridge shall have a commonality of parts with the touchdown zone, runway edge and runway end versions to simplify and reduce airports spares holding.
A handbook shall be provided giving full installation, operation and maintenance instructions together with a detailed parts list.
